Causes Of Eczema

/>Eczema can be a complicated disease, and it has been called many different things. It is characterized by red, dry, itchy, scaly skin, and it can actually cause crusting and various other problems. They talk about eczema accompanying certain other disorders such as asthma and arthritis for example, and it can occur in people of any age ranging from infants to senior citizens. Eczema is a disease that is commonly seen, but often misunderstood. So what causes it?

Most recently, they have started to call it contact dermatitis. Essentially speaking, this means that they believe that eczema is actually caused by contact with clothes, materials, detergents, and chemicals that may irritate and harm the skin. If this is actually the cause, and they are saying that this is actually the most common cause of eczema, you can deal with it properly by properly rinsing your clothes after you wash them, avoiding certain more irritating materials, etc.

Second, they have said that it may be related to allergies. Allergies can traditionally cause hives and a number of other skin issues. Eczema is just a natural extension. And finally, eczema has been called an auto immune disorder. This is why it has been said to accompany other auto immune disorders such as asthma, arthritis, Crohn’s disease, and Celiac disease. And accordingly, interestingly enough, a number of the treatments used for these problems also work on eczema. As a whole however, it is often a combination of these problems that will actually “cause” eczema. They don’t actually know a definitive cause of eczema.
